Tastes of Wellington
Saturday September 19th is the annual Tastes of Wellington West Event. This is a wonderful event, where all of the area businesses come out to showcase their services and products. It has a wonderful community element, and feels like a street fair. OWCS will be hosting a free café that day. We will be setting up an area for passersby to relax in, full of lovely bistro tables on lend from area businesses. Free coffee will be provided by Bridgehead and fee tea will be provided by Nectar fine teas. Pray for a sunny day since we’ll be set up outside!
Comfort Food Recipes Needed
We are currently putting together an OWCS Comfort Food themed cookbook! This cookbook will start being sold as a fundraiser in October. We are hoping to collect a wide variety of recipes from OWCS clients, volunteers and staff members. The definition of comfort food is anything that brings you happiness or invokes warm feelings! It can be a main course, an appetizer, or a dessert! The deadline for recipe submission is September 30th. Submissions can be made to Sarah in person, by phone, or by email. sarah@owcs.ca
Friday Luncheon Back in Session
Friday September 4 was our first Friday Luncheon of the 2015/2016 season. More than 40 people were in attendance for a wonderful post-summer reunion! Clients caught up, ate a delicious lunch and of course, they danced!
Performance by 8th Generation
Jacqui Du Toit and Jack Pyl of 8th Generation performed some African stories, dances and songs for our Day Program clients. It was a wonderfully unique and interactive experience for our clients and we can’t wait to have them back! More information can be found at http://www.8thgeneration.co.
Stay tuned for more updates from OWCS and let us know if there’s anything you want to hear about!
